“I found dba Architects by just searching online.I found on Google businesses, dbaArchitects popped up, had great reviews, and they were local to Pasadena, and that was important to me. So I made a phone call. I had a great experience with dbaArchitects. I think one: the project timeline ended up being much shorter than I had when speaking with other architects. I was expecting just a longer timeline, especially with the city of Pasadena, and I think we hadf ewer stumbles than I would have expected. And just the process.I’ve had experience with other architects and the customer experience. A lot of times you can’t get them on the phone, when you need to. So I had a great experience, with Steve, always there and ready to take my call anytime I needed him.

When I first started working with dbaArchitects, the thing that impressed me the most initially was: one just the customer experience. I had been used to other architects that maybe wouldn’t necessarily take my phone call all the time, but just someone who’s right there with me thinking ten steps ahead and ready to make any adjustments that I was thinking of. And the second thing was I actually hadn’t had this experience where working with someone who is really doing a custom job, who is giving me multiple potential floor plans, really just taking the time to think about the space, think about all the elements, the lighting, what other topography and everything, and really just think through a couple of different, completely different floor plans, completely different drawings and designs. And that was really nice. My wife and I really appreciate being able to look at these multiple options and then take one and then be able to customize it even further.

So before working with dbaArchitects, I would say my biggest issue was that the architect I worked with previously just wasn’t there. You paid him the money and he worked on it, wouldn’t really take your phone calls afterward, didn’t know where we were in terms of working with the city and just long, kind of complicated experience without a lot of customer experience. So I’d say my experience with dbaArchitect solves all that, and then it solves a problem that I didn’t even know I had, which was thinking about that I would have multiple options for different designs and very different designs that I would never have thought of myself. I would say if you’re looking to hire an architect, I would highly recommend calling dbaArchitects. I think they’ll be able to give you a great idea of what potential your space has. They’ll be able to give you a very good timeline in terms of what to expect and what milestones would be there. And best of all, they’ll create some of the best designs that you probably haven’t even thought of yet.”

“dbaArchitects helped me plot out my dream of converting my garage into an ADU! It has been ten years that I’ve been thinking about this, and finally it happened! I feel like dbaArchitects was a really great choice for me because I did need help in terms of direction a little bit. But obviously they gave me a lot of really good input in terms of what to do, how to plac different, like the whole placement of the ADU. I obviously had specific things that I wanted, andI felt like we worked really great together. He was really open to listening to what I had to say. He had great input. So I just felt like that’s what you want from somebody, right? Someone who’s willing to listen to you, willing to give you input, and then you can meld that together. So I thought that worked great.

I honestly can say that I felt like I got good value for the actual project because I did shop around. There were people that were a little cheaper, there are people that were a little more expensive. But for my particular needs, I felt like I wasn’t necessarily a cookie cutter situation. So some of the people I had met with were pretty much like that: we can do this for you, and this is what we are and this is what we can do. Like, this is what we’re going to do for you, where it’s already preset. So you kind of, like, fit that into your space. But I felt like mine. I didn’t necessarily really want to go in that direction. I wanted a little more interaction. And I felt like dbaArchitects was perfect for that.

I would definitely hire dbaArchitects again. I really enjoyed working with the team, and it was just like a very easy and not stressful process. I would recommend dbaArchitects to my friends because of the fact that I feel like I had a great experience. I think that going in to any kind of design process, you want someone that’s kind of like a partner with you. And I felt like dbaArchitect was that. So for that reason, I felt likeI would definitely recommend dbaArchitects.”
